Richard K. Vanselow

Richard Kenneth Vanselow, was born on September 5, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois to Herbert and Dolores (Buck) Vanselow and grew up with his 3 brothers, Kenneth, Wayne and Keith. He was baptized as a child of God on October 25, 1953 at Timothy Lutheran Church in Chicago, Illinois. Richie attended Park Lawn School for 3 years from 1962-1965. Richie developed a love for baseball at a young age, often playing ball in the park across the street on Wolcott Ave. He moved with his family to Sister Lakes in Michigan in 1978 and for over 20 years developed a love for swimming and boating before relocating to Oak Lawn, Illinois in 1998 attending Garden Center Services in Burbank for many years. Richie spent his 72 years loving those who took care of him especially his parents, his brother, Keith, and his favorite caregiver, Margie Sharpe.

Richie is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Dolores (Buck) Vanselow and one brother Wayne Vanselow. He is survived by his brothers, Kenneth (Donna) Vanselow, Keith Vanselow, nephews, friends, and his longtime caregiver of over 25 years, Margie Sharpe.

On November 30th in the 2025th year of our Lord in Oak Lawn, Illinois, God blessed Richie with a peaceful death at the age of 72 and took him to be with Him to await the resurrection of the dead. We give thanks to God our Father through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for our beloved Richie.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday evening, December 4th from 3-8 pm at Kosary Funeral Home in Evergreen Park. Funeral service will be on December 5th at 11:00 am at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Oak Lawn with a 10:00 am visitation until time of service. Rev. Wayne J. Miller will serve as officiant with the assistance of Rev. Gregg Ramiraz. Richie will receive Christian burial immediately after the service at Bethania Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 4660 W. 94th Street, Oak Lawn, IL 60453 and Garden Center Services, 8333 Austin Ave, Burbank, IL 60459.
