Richard Moreno

August 26, 1935 – January 22, 2026

Richard Moreno Sr., age 90, of Evergreen Park, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Northwestern Palos Hospital, with his devoted daughter Gloria, and loving niece Patricia, by his side.

Richard was born on August 26, 1935, in Dilley, Texas. He was the beloved husband of the late Delia Moreno, whom he loved deeply and missed dearly after her passing. A devoted family man, Richard was the loving father of Gloria Zysko; Richard Moreno Jr. (Linda); and Raymond Moreno (Carol). He was a proud grandfather of Natalie Heavey (Timothy), Amelia McMenamy (Brian), and Nick Moreno.

Richard was a dear brother to the late Mary Liceaga, Lucy Williams, Danny Moreno, and Charles Moreno, and a fond Tío to many nieces and nephews. He was also a beloved comrade, neighbor, and friend to many, leaving a quiet but lasting impression on all who knew him.

Richard spent his career as a dedicated truck driver with Chicago Central Steel, retiring after many years of faithful service. Known for his strong work ethic and reliability, he took pride in providing for his family and living with integrity.

In his younger years, Richard enjoyed bowling tournaments, banquets, and music-filled parties, where laughter, singing, and joy carried long into the night. He had a lifelong love of music, especially Luis Miguel and Andrea Bocelli, and found comfort and entertainment in good movies and classic westerns. A devoted fan of Seinfeld, Richard could recite nearly every line and always appreciated a good laugh.

A man of deep faith, Richard was a faithful Christian and an active attendee of New Life Church, where he cherished his friendships and studied scripture. He had a gentle way of sharing wisdom, often encouraging others to “pray for wisdom.” His kind soul, warm smile, and quiet thoughtfulness made everyone feel welcome.

Richard was generous by nature, always giving without expecting anything in return. One of his favorite quotes, “Deserve’s got nothing to do with it,” reflected his humble and grounded outlook on life. He also found joy in admiring cars, took comfort in simple pleasures, and treasured every visit from family and friends.

Above all else, Richard loved his family. His presence was steady, his love sincere, and his legacy one of faith, kindness, and quiet strength. His life was a blessing, and his memory will be cherished always.
