Norman R. Kaminske

October 20, 1956 — January 19, 2026

Palos Park

Norman better known as "Norm," was a life-long member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and School. Oak Lawn, Illinois, all 69 years of his life. Born at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, Norm was baptized in the Name of the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit at St. Paul's in 1956, confirmed in the Christian faith in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1970, and served the Lord at St. Paul as an Usher, and a Elder. The Lord God called Norm home to His nearer presence in heaven on January 19th, 2026. He will be buried next to his parents, Roy and Lois (nee Lotter) Kaminske, at Chapel Hill Garden South Cemetery, awaiting the Day of Resurrection when our Lord returns again. Norm's Confirmation verse was Psalms 23;1: "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want."

Yes, Norm was a White Sox fan as well as all Chicago teams, though he was more into family walks and hikes than sports. What was important to Norm was his older sister, Janet Lou Stechholz and family, his friends at St. Paul in the Divine Services and Bible Classes and social events, his friends at Peace Village, Palos Park, and others along life's journeys. Norm enjoyed the trips he took with his parents and sister, his later trips with his mother Lois Kaminske, to whom he was very devoted, and visits to the Stechholz family, whether in Pennsylvania, California and the San Francisco Bay area, or Detroit (the past 20 years). He especially enjoyed our extended family trip to Alaska in July, 2023. Norm was still able to drive up to six months ago, but the Parkinson's finally took its toll.

Everyone liked Norm. Though never married, he was kind, friendly, and talkative. Norm's work career was as a stock clerk at Montgomery Wards and later at Carson's at Chicago Ridge Mall. He retired about six years ago. Everyone liked and knew him at work.

Norm is survived by his dear sister, Janet (nee Kaminske) Stechholz and brother-in-law, Rev. Dr. David Stechholz and their adult children, Andrew Stechholz, Mary Rachel (and Joe) Bliss, and Sarah Anne (and AJ) Phillips, and nieces and nephews Mia, Logan, Kara, and Josie Bliss, and Michael Phillips; as well as numerous cousins and their families.
