Jeanette J. Maly

December 31, 1945 — March 16, 2023

Chicago

On March 16, just after sunrise, our beloved Jeanette Josephene Maly, also dearly known as Mamasan, Aunt Jeanette, and Grandma, peacefully transitioned to her spiritual “home” from her earthly one, enveloped in LOVE by her family and her loyal pups, Newie and Spotz, per her last wishes.
Jeanette was a dynamic character, a proud Chicago native, appropriately born on New Year’s Eve 1945, to the late Emil Bergstrom and Elsie (Lehtinen) Bergstrom. She was predeceased by her first husband John A Galea, second husband Donald Maly Jr., and loving sister and brother in law, Eileen and Rudy Garcia.
Jeanette was a force to be reckoned with. She had unforgettable charisma, humor, and you could always count on her for a straight and snappy answer.
A fierce champion for the underdog,
…and for several literal stray dogs.
She was a giver who loved and laughed with her whole heart, and was generous and kind to a fault.
During her illustrious career as a Commercial Real Estate broker, she was Hallmark & Johnson’s first female top broker and celebrated her new corner office by painting it hot pink!
With her compassion and entrepreneurial spirit, she uplifted, inspired, and mentored numerous people, especially women, to better their lives by believing in themselves and “taking action” one step at a time.
This one of a kind woman, had the ability to turn anyone’s frown upside down with a story, joke or cornball song.
She is survived by her two loving daughters, Pamela Hamilton and Jonneal Galea, son in law Michael Flores, and teen sweetheart, lifelong-friend Robert Corr.
She will forever be loved and missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins … Christine (Joe) Levinskas, Colleen (late Roberto) Diaz, Michael (Donna) Bucher, Kelly (late Dave) Eggert, Joey (Amy) Garcia, Donnie (JoAnn) Arquette, Jan Christison, and Ardelle Antonelli
Grandchildren James, Jennie, Sofia… Great grandchildren Madison, Gage, Colton, and Wyatt... Great nieces and nephews Joey (Ally), Janis (Joe), Jennifer, (late)Jesse, (late)Darcy, Derick, Olivia, Mallory, Gabe… Great niece and nephew Joey and Cali-Rose
Please join us if you can, in celebrating this vivacious, woman’s life and Legacy… We’re going to wear purple and green together as those were her favorite colors.
