Jeanette Marie Giffey, passed away suddenly on April 28, 2025.
Jeannette was born in Chicago in 1967. After graduating from St. Ignatius High School, she attended University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Jeannette spent the majority of her professional career working at Navy Pier. Her twenty-three years with the Pier began with the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority (MPEA) and continued when the Pier became a stand-alone Not-For-Profit entity. Jeanette worked in many departments spending the majority of her tenure in Finance. Most recently, Jeanette was working in the Finance Department for the Alsip location of M&K Truck Centers as well as a dispatcher for the Worth Police Department. Jeanette was always a dedicated employee; with her vast knowledge and problem-solving abilities, you could say she was the jack of all trades.
Jeanette had a love for sports, the Chicago Blackhawks and NASCAR, being particular favorites. She had a passion for music of most, if not all, genres and played the flute in her youth.
Jeannette was a loving daughter to her mother, Carol (nee Merchant) and late father William Sr. She was a cherished little sister to William (Bill) Giffey Jr. and his wife Kerry. She adored her nieces, Jessica Giffey, Amanda Johnson, Abigail Giffey, and Rachel Giffey. Jeanette was also Godmother to Abigail and Rachel. She was a loving friend to many and will always be remembered by her contagious laugh.
