Dorothy Ann Briestansky

Dorothy Briestansky, 80, of Shorewood, Illinois, entered eternal life on August 3, 2026. Born on November 3, 1945, Dorothy was the daughter of Ann Soltys and John Briestansky. She grew up in Chicago and later raised her family in Evergreen Park. In recent years she lived at Shorewood Horizons, where she formed deep and lasting friendships. Dorothy devoted herself to family and faith. She is the beloved mother of Thomas, [Jennifer], proud grandmother to Loren and Tommy, and the late Daniel, [Laurie]. loving grandmother to Cullen and Mason, who all brought her great joy. Dorothy is preceded in death by her brother John, and is survived by her brother Joseph (Kathy), along with extended family, and many dear friends. She is reunited in peace with her son Daniel and her faithful companion Sadie. Dorothy built a meaningful career in higher education, working in university admissions and administration. She supported students and families with patience, clarity, and genuine care. Her steady professionalism and compassion earned the respect of colleagues and the gratitude of those she served. Dorothy also served faithfully in the funeral ministry at St. Gianna Parish, offering comfort and steadiness to families in their most difficult moments. Dorothy treasured the friendships she made at Shorewood Horizons and across her communities in Chicago and Evergreen Park. She loved her dogs, especially Sadie, whose ashes will rest with her. Her Polish heritage was an important part of her life and faith.
